At Risk Ice
Will Canada stick up for its country in the fight for Hans Island and the Northwest Passage, or will they fold like they have done in the past with their land theglobeandmail.com?
Reasons for keeping the Arctic ours:
1. land may be loaded with valuable natural resources, including more diamonds; and oil - Canada could own a global supply of oil - mwhahahah Whistler Blower article.
2. having ships pass through the arctic will disrupt our way of living; we'll have to deal with a giant ocean highway... and traffic jams are already bad enough in Canadian cities.
3. passing ships could destroy the ecosystem and the animal habitat; we already have enough troubles dealing with PETA and seals.
4. the Inuit will end up harpooning passing submarines thinking they just bagged dinner for the day; international crisis likely to follow.
I don't know about you, but I think it could be very easy for other countries to take over areas of our already insanely defenseless country. You know, every poll that I read or hear about claims that the majority of Canadians want the government to put more money and effort into our measely military, so is our government really working for us if they don't heed those warnings?
I thought the government was put in power by the people and for them. So, let's see them work for this country in a way that the citizens want.
I'm not saying I'm for war or against it. I plead the 5th; I'm Switzerland; I'm neutral; I refuse to answer on the grounds that I don't want to lose viewership. All I know is that this government is in power to serve us, so they need to listen to the majority and take action accordingly.
The Crazy Rants of Samantha Burns

Comments
Hey samantha, I have written some comments on independentsources(hans-island-spat-roundup) so I found a link to your site there. During the past two weeks or so I have been surfing the web to find out why this issue is so hot in canada. In the beginning I didn't quite understand what all the fuss was about and got a bit angry with some of the canucks making comments about denmark. Anyway, now I think that I know why; It's to show that canada wont give in to pressure from other countries, right?
