Dogs
I'm a dog person. I like cats and other animals too, but I really am a dog person. And you know why, it's because they'll go through everything with you.
There is no fantasy person out there like that. No one who'll listen to what you have to say and never take offense to anything. Or argue with you about some of the most mundane things. Or even make you explain yourself for the umpteenth time and no matter how you word it...
They. Just. Don't. Get. It.
Nope, dogs, unlike people, can give you the truest, most humble form of love there is. They don't talk back or make stabbing remarks in your direction. You can hoot and holler and raise a stink all you want, and a dog companion will be right there beside you wagging its tail, just looking at you with a stupid smile on its face, happy to be alive. All they require is some food, a little petting, and a stroll in the park.
I like dogs, but if they can make a human-style robot with those simple dog-qualities, I'll pay whatever it takes to get it.

I'm a dog person too. Mine sits outside my bedroom door if I'm in the shower. Guarding me from the tub monster I assume. I can go outside to check the mail and when I come in she's all over me like I've been gone for a month. Can't beat that kind of love!

I'm with you Sam, for sure, on this topic.

Dogs are cool. I have a friend who has a female pit bull that lives under his house. Dogs can protect you and love you if you treat them right. They can act like border guards and even custom agents when someone unknown walks into your yard or house. Cats on the other hand, half eat the food you give them then skip town on you, then whack, you find them the next day as road kill leaving you with $20 of uneaten cat food. The only problem I have with dogs is, they take a dump all over the place, LOL!

Dogs stroke the ego. To them, I am the greatest thing in the world (well, next to pork chops and tennis balls, I guess!). They certainly make me strive to be the kind of person that they already believe I am. You can't beat having a few dogs cheering for you in your corner! ;)

Dogs rock! I have several dogs, most notably one brownish colored short haired mix. She (and they)are just wonderful. They are always there for you and really come through with the intangibles. Dogs are loyal, kind and inteligent. Sometimes a little self serving, but always good at heart.

Grew up a dog person (had four over a couple of decades), married a cat person (and had as many as 6 at one time), now at an equilibrium point of 2 dogs and 3 cats -- now if we can just get the youngest cat to come out from under the bed (and the youngest dog to quit chasing her into there), I think we'd be in pretty good shape...
