Self cleaning houses exist - in the article below this one, there is a person that owns one.
They just have high upkeep (pay the staff and all)

Samantha - Enjoy your ranting! Keep up the good work. Maybe you'd like to join in my rant -- I'm a WWII veteran of "Bloody Tarawa" as it was called 62 years ago when hundreds of US Marines died in an assault on a steamy Pacific atoll during three days of violence -- with 3400 casualties. There were 160 Japanese survivors among the 6400 defenders. Now "Bloody Tarawa" should be called "Garbage Tarawa" because the hallowed ground where so ma ny young men died (I had a close call as Navy landing craft officer, landing these kids on Red Beach --lucky,I knew when to duck). Now Red Beach is piled high with garbage because the natives don't know where else to pile it -- as a photo by AP last year shows. Our dumb government has done nothing about the mess all these years. I've written to my reps in Congress and to the White House (Bush still on vacation of course) and to the Republican National Committe Chairman -- but no response from anybody to deal with this disgrace...More info on my website -- Samantha, maybe you can join in.
