Crocs

Crocs shoes are the new 80's jelly shoes, or so they seem. They look similarly horrid; they are gaining widespread popularity as a fad; and they are bloody cheap.
If you aren't aware of these gaudy loafers, here is a short article on them from 9news.com. All I know is that my cousin owns a pair of them in pink, of all colours, and they look about 2 sizes too big on her already oversized feet. I mean, we're talking Peggy Hill sized feet, and she wonders why everyone tells her the shoes look too big on her feet. Hello, why does everyone want to look horrific? Jelly shoes went out of style for a reason, let's leave them there in the past, m'kay.

I'll agree, the shoes aren't very attractive. But saying your cousin has "Peggy Hill sized feet" is cold. What did Peggy Hill wear, like a size 14 shoe? I hope your cousin has a good sense of humor if she ever reads this.

Can you eat them?

Amigo - it's not too cold when it's true, I'm afraid. She'd laugh some.
Peemil - ew, I don't want to be eating worn shoes. How about you test out that theory and get back to us?

Peggy Hill sized feet and she wears Crocs? Is your cousin single?

And I was thinking they look pretty cool. Nice shade of blue, have a back strap, look comfy, attention-getting... :)

Erasmus - you make me laugh. We're talking 40 year old virgin, well 40 in 10 more years. You guessed it, bang on.

My wife has a pair much to my horror, but she says they are the most comfortable things she owns.
I hope the fad passes soon.

Actually, the "Highland" (unventilated) in black is no worse than some of my laze-around-the-house sandals in appearance. Still, I wouldn't wear them away from the house, though, unless it were at a beach or pool or to go rafting or something like that.

Well you did say they were jelly.

I had the same problem with my humongous feet. I don't own any though.

For every oddity, there is a place for it on the internet:

People may say the crocs are comfortable, but how comfortable can you really be knowing you're wearing some truly fugly footwear? I suspect their tolerance is such that they would be comfortable wearing neon plaid.

I know. Yuck!

I live in the Denver-Boulder area, and it seems as though my wife and I are the only ones who've thus far resisted buying a pair of Crocs. They're as ubiquitous as the tire tread-rope sandals worn in poor 3rd world countries. The worst is when you see some middle-aged guy in big blue Crocs and support socks; clearly, he's given up.

They look like 70's Earth shoes except in rubber or plastic or "jelly". They STILL sell Earth shoes though, and I doubt these will have such longevity. I'm a leather loafers/ tennis shoes type of girl myself.

Good heavens!
I remember when those type of shoes first emerged some ten years ago as gardening shoes for about US$35.00. I thought, "Ewww. Plastic Berk-wannabes".
So the dumb things are still around. Uhhh, thanks but no thanks.

They are all over the place here in the Midwest too. I don't get it. I don't even want to get it. Why relive the blister fiasco from the jellies' fad of the 1980s?

Looks like the updated version of the rubber LL Bean shoes of my youth. Yuppies wore them together with izods and other featureless clothing, usually in pink or green - or both.
Outside of the obvious aethetic judgments one could make, it looks to me as though these would give you pretty bad blisters (and possibly foot odor).

I was asking if she was single because that combination is just HOT. Crocs on Peggy Hill sized feet have always been my secret fetish.
