Fight For Freedom Continues

Jiblog brings to light a question which many of us ask during these world-changing times.

It is wondered why we rarely see Muslims standing up to those who are hijacking their religion.

Jiblog brings an awareness to us that many are doing something about it as they protest and denounce terrorist leaders, but questions if this is enough.

"Standing up to terrorists is half the battle. Fighting back is the other half."

I'm sure there are many opinions out there, what's yours?

A Muslim who genuinely believes the core tenets of his creed:
1. That the Qur'an was dictated to Muhammad by the Angel Gabriel, as Allah's representative;
2. That Muhammad was the Perfect Man, and should be emulated by Muslims as closely as possible;

...cannot oppose the Islamist jihadis. Islam's sacred texts and its doctrine of conversion by the sword are in the Islamokazis' favor, not the "moderates."

Alongside that, of course, the Islamokazis have this naughty habit of killing Muslims who differ with them. In the jihadi view, a "Muslim" who doesn't support the worldwide jihad is a heretic or an apostate.

Yes the difficult part is surviving taking a stand.

I think the President needs to take up the hobby of glass blowing. heh

In response to Francis, I'd like to point out that people have this tendency to mold religion to themselves rather than vice versa. That's why there is a liberal to conservative spectrum of both Judaism and Christianity. While it is a little bit more thorny an issue in Islam, there is still that spread, even if it may be narrower.

And in response to Dan, it certainly is tough. And if they (moderate Muslims) don't believe that their more moderate beliefs are worth the risk, then we non-Muslims are going to be locked in a long, ugly battle with the more fanatical Muslims. And the moderates are going to get swallowed up by it.

And to Sam, thanks for the link. Too bad my post didn't garner more conversation.
