I Hate Saying This Name... Walmart
Those Bastards takes a look at Smelly-mart, I mean Walmart, and their DOMINATION OF THE WORLD.
Actually, it's a look at how they are thinking of changing their policies to hire only "healthy" people (meaning fat peeps aren't encouraged to apply).
The article also questions the true value of Walmart's health care benefits and weighs the issue of how they're contributing to the "burden of health care on local, state and federal governments".
I ask, should we be alarmed by other major corporations,as well as Walmart, in their manipulation and control of societal issues, and if so, what, if anything, can be done about it?

Wally world ROCKS. Where else can you buy ammo, a pet goldfish, a gallon of milk, a few yards of cloth, and tires for the SUV all at one place! Don't question, be a good little droid

I used to think Walmart's benefits were bad, until I found out they were better than mine.
This is a good balanced documentary on Walmart, with both positive and negative lights, if it is ever shown near you:

They didn't get to be the largest retailer in the world by being nice to their employees. I hate those commericials where they profile their happy smiley workers they're going to fire.

Finally! something you and I seem to agree about. I hate 'em. and aint it the height of hipocrisy for walmart to show those smarmy ads with grandfatherly "greeters" just oozing the warmth of walmart kindness and clearly well past retirement age? How many of those old folks would pass the new walmart I-won't-dent-your-healthcare-costs physical?
oh, i see others have the same complaint. fine! were unanimous. walmart sux

Actually they got to being the largest retailer by having the most advanced IT and just-in-time inventory system in the world, that businesses all over study to try to replicate (and anyone in IT who tries to provide sales forcasts studies). (IT is my business) They had a 9 degree cube when everyone else was asking "what's a cube".
Only after they became the biggest did they really have the power to start squeezing.
we all say it sucks but we all shop there and demand the lowest price. When was the last time anyone here deliberately paid a higher price for anything? If there's a problem, then we are part of it.
