Not Work Safe
I don't get why, as bloggers, we sometimes put up the warning, "not work safe" for links to naughty or indecent content.
Um... isn't anything you look at while you're at work "not work safe"? I mean aren't you supposed to be, uh, WORKING?

hehe. i guess that's true. but i think companies are fine with employees taking small breaks to increase productivity. So, i guess people can take breaks in different ways. some choose to go online and loiter on the web rather than hallways.

Absolutely right.
I'd have more to say on the issue but I've got to get some work done.

Shouldn't you be watching some children right about now? ;)

Oh come on! Who works at work?

In some shops where I've worked in it's the work (or the workers) you shouldn't look at.

Once when I was at work, I read an article in USA Today about the Brava Bra, which is some fancy suction bra that increases breast tissue (i.e. makes your boobs bigger). I was merely curious about what the thing looked like (honest!) and googled it. When I brought their site up (mybrava.com, although it's changed since then) I was immediately greeted with a large artsy picture of a woman's naked torso. My mouse pointer left skid marks on the screen, I closed that browser window so fast and then I started looking behind me to make sure no one saw it.
At least blogs looks newsy. Heaving bosoms will only get you fired. Hmmm... "Heaving bosoms will only get you fired." That sounds like a good motto for life.

I've always wondered about the NSFW warning myself. My employer has a perfect solution. Block ALL blogs.

Some companies (like my not-so-small software company) have "No Tollerance" policies.
Sure there are disciplnary measures around normal dissipation. But there are certian things which will get you fired on the spot. (That would be the need for the NSFW clause)

Good point. I guess I SHOULD get back to work.

HA. I agree. All non work is NSFW. I always warn people when they come to my site if any "after the jump" material is NSFW, but if you point your browser to www.chicks-who-do-donkeys.com then you might not need the warning anyway.
PS. That domain name is ACTUALLY not taken as of this post. Don't say I never gave you guys anything!

what if you work in a porno shop?

If the company thinks some female worker will sue them for a million dollars if they walk in on you while looking that website, you will get fired. Luckily, guys doing the splits on a metal bar they tried to skateboard down are safe from that threat. Britney and Kevin's new video is not.

Goofing off at work is a time honored tradition! Remember, God did not create the world in seven days. He goofed off for six and then pulled an all-nighter.
Great blog, Samantha. I found you through Mike Hollihan's "Half-Bakered". I'll be back.
