Here's One Reason Why I Blog
My question to you is are there radio stations called Elevator Music fm or Evoking Murder am, or something?
I mean, where do these elevator companies, dentist offices, and telephone "put you on hold" places find their music?
You can probably imagine that I thought to write this article while being tortured by one of the above mentioned places.
You're right.
I was stuck listening to some telephone "put you on hold" music and was about ready to pull out all of my hair when I realised, hey, why not write an article instead of instigating my own unnatural baldness.
So, there you have it. One great reason for blogging is that I've managed to save myself many chilly-headed winter evenings as a result.

Oh god, yes.
I have, in my time, walked out of shops with bad tunes.
Like A Virgin on pan pipes!
Jesus.

I think it's a satellite service.
"...instead of instigating my own unnatural baldness."
So funny.

I call it "being put on ignore". It didn't help though. I'm still bald

I thought you were going another direction with that one for a bit... comparing all of the blogs to the ubiquitiousness [wordy? Oh yeah.] of elevator/hold music. Imagine, in the future, people will be able to play back old blog entries on the video phone for when you're put on hold with MegaCorp, and when hold-music becomes obsolete.
(By the way: I figured out what Blogrolling is, and have added a your site to my currently tiny blogroll).

Back before our company got bought by an eee-vol corporation, our then-boss used to just attach the phone to a CD system playing Kenny G on infinite repeat (which I'm *sure* helped reduce the number of customer complaints that got reported...)

I don't call very many places I'm put on hold but I do get put on hold occasionally when I call the cycle shop whose website I manage. I'm getting a little tired of hearing not to eat yellow snow.

Like Yojimbo said, "Muzac". It's a big business, too, although it's been cut down to size a bit with today's digital music and satellite radio options. But it's more than music, it's designed to keep you moving along, spend money, and annoy the hell out of you if you're a shiftless teenager. It turns out that supplying music to industry is an exacting business.
