Oprah Pooped On This Time
Apparently, Oprah and her book of the whatever club has been duped.
Last October, Oprah had a book called, A Million Little Pieces by James Frey that she was promoting to her club and to her audience.
The book was pushed as a nonfiction, but as it turns out, it was full of deception and manipulation of facts.
The con was so unnoticed that the Oprah episode was titled "The Man Who Kept Oprah Awake At Night" and much of her crew went unaware, as well.
Oprah stated on the episode,
"[it's] like nothing you've ever read before. Everybody at Harpo is reading it. When we were staying up late at night reading it, we'd come in the next morning saying, 'What page are you on?'"The "nonfiction" story was so compelling that as the cameras turned back to Oprah from her employee testimonies, Oprah said,
"I'm crying 'cause these are all my Harpo family so, and we all loved the book so much."Sucks to be you, Oprah.
Perhaps this is just a repercussion of her seemingly nasty behaviour. It's coming back to her in some not-so-subtle ways.
As a result of Oprah's lack of investigating, Frey's book remained on the best seller's list for the last 15 weeks and has raised millions of $.
I guess Frey's book will have to be moved from the nonfiction section to the fiction shelf, but I'm sure with the bucks he's made, he doesn't care too darn much.

I just couldn't figure out from the descriptions of the book in the article why in the world everybody found it such compelling reading. Maybe it's like watching Cops on TV--the entertainment comes from knowing that no matter how screwed up your life is, you're not as screwed up as the people getting busted?

She held a grudge against Letterman for the "Uma, Oprah" thing. Imagine how she must feel about THIS guy.
