Dr. Pepper Rocks, Yo!
Join the latest controversy to rock the world.
Blog d'Elisson is creating the next international firestorm as he spews contention over the soft drink, Dr. Pepper.
He viciously claims that Dr. Pepper has a coke-meets-prune juice taste.
This commentary ignited outrage around the world on both sides of the spectrum. Some, like Where are my socks and What not to do in Australia, shout out their rage by demanding America apologise for the soda pop.
Both What not to do in Australia and Blog d'Elisson have gone so far as to set up voting polls on how you, as the drinker, rate the soft drink.
Let the world know, people. Let the world know that Dr. Pepper rocks.
I, for one, support the drink. I particularly enjoy diet Dr. Pepper, but have recently discovered their newest flavour diet Dr. Pepper with vanilla and cherry.
HEAVEN!
To exemplify the North American (and likely worldwide) love of this famous drink, here is a display of all the imitiations created. It is so popular and loved that there are cheap knock-offs everywhere. And, that list isn't the end, there is also Dr. Skipper up here in Canada, and I'm sure there are plenty more elsewhere.
So, I guess what I'm saying in my adoration for the drink is that once again, Canada supports the USA in battle.
We have our troops waiting on the sidelines for the word.
And, although I respect and admire Where are my socks' work greatly, I...

Beware the fickle soft drink companies! I just got thoroughly hooked on Vanilla Diet Coke last fall and they pulled the plug on me. Then I made the switch to Vanilla Diet Pepsi (not quite as good) and now they are dropping that.
Somebody up there is telling me to drink water I guess...

What is with all the diet stuff? Be strong, drink it straight! And what's with the vanilla, cherry and all that flavors??? Dr. Pepper needs no extra flavoring...

"He viciously claims that Dr. Pepper has a coke-meets-prune juice taste"
Excuse me. Read the post that started it all, and tell me that I was dissing Dr Pepper. That stuff is like mother's milk to both me and SWMBO! [But, yeah, it is kinda pruney, admit it.]

I admire and respect your work too Samantha.
However, there will reprisals for your views.
You've been warned.

I have always thought that DP tasted a little like cherry coke.
I don't know what prune juice taste like, nor do I ever want to know.

"cherry coke."
Even more reason to hate it.

As a Texan, I must state here that Dr. Pepper was invented in Texas. Therefore it must, by default, be one of the two greatest soft drinks in the world (the other one, Big Red, was also invented in Texas).
Dr. Pepper is my favorite soft drink, and I don't know where people come up with this "prune theory." I think it may have once been an urban legend that it had prunce juice in it. People of a discerning palate will note that it actually has distinct undertones of vanilla.

Regular Dr Pepper is thickly sweet. Probably where the prune thing came in. But Diet Dr Pepper isn't and it is the only thing I drink!

I love Dr. Pepper albeit the decaffeinted option. I know that a lot of people dislike it, and I guess it's a personal choice..

One of my fondest memories of childhood is visiting my Grandmother and getting oven toast and Dr Pepper, no other softdrink ever darkened her doors.
What I don't understand is this the US should appoligise. Who makes anyone drink something they don't want to?
As to
"Somebody up there is telling me to drink water I guess... "
I don't know about you but the machines where I work charge more for bottled water!
I have yet to figure that one out.

Samantha,
Maybe it's a throw back to the old days when grandpop use to take me and the bro's to the soda shop but now to hear that there's no more vanilla coke? I have my last case in the basement. Don't know what to do. You see I take my VC and mix it 50/50 in a glass of Edy's double fudge brownie ice cream and mix it up (both freezin freekin cold) and drink it like it was the last day. May have to resort to putting a drop or two of vanilla extract in my coke in the future. Hope it works. If not, looks like it's good buy cruel world for me.
Hope I'm still hear after the vanilla coke isn't.
