Stephen Harper B*tch-Slaps The Press
Crack that whip, boy!
Apparently, the Canadian national media is as biased when it comes to reporting as the press is in the US.
No kidding, eh.
Would you expect any less of our media than to follow in the footsteps of almost every other MSM reporter out there?
Harper's smart, though, stating right off that he's not dealing with those cheeseballs.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper accused members of the national media on Wednesday of bias, vowing to avoid them from now on in favour of less hostile local reporters.Gee, sounds exactly like the bull that Bush has to deal with down south there.Harper told a London, Ont. TV station in an interview that the Ottawa press gallery has decided to become the Official Opposition to his Conservative government, and that he's experiencing difficulty that no Liberal prime minister would ever have to face.
But, I'm sure it is pretty much impossible to ignore the national media altogether, especially when you are the Prime Minister.
And, of course, insulted by Harper's bravery, the press retaliated with comments like,
"When (Harper) doesn't like it and he can't get his way, he walks out of news conferences . . ."Uh, no, it's called standing up to bullies.
Harper's actually acting as a role model by sticking up for himself and not allowing sh*theads to ignorantly and disgracefully attack him.
Our countries' leaders are not celebrities that the paparazzi/press can trample on and fabricate stories about; they are to be respected.

Good one. Calling it what is is "Bravery".
Also the comparison about how the press is trying to treat your boy like they treat a cleb and setting themselves up as the official opposition. Yes you are correct there too.
What I want to know is more about this guy now and what his background is. The libs up there must think he is some kind of Yankee Infiltrator.
Hey what is your take on Mark Emmory over in BC?
Eh?

I understand the Softwoods Import/Export conflict has been resolved.
The US will drop it's tarrifs and refund $4 Billion in previously collected tarrifs to Canada.
The Liberals accused Harper of folding to the US?
I am not knowledgeable on this topic.
What were the Liberal Party's expectations?

Mother of all blog pimps - I haven't followed the Marc Emery bit too much, even though he is from my area, but I know a little about it.
My opinion - take him. I don't need him here. I don't do drugs, but I'm sure the pot industry in BC, and Canada, won't suffer for his loss anyhow.
Aside from that, Harper's coming across pretty well here, despite the biased media attention.

Dan - the Liberal Party here has no expectations, and didn't seem to have a clue what they wanted from the woody issue. They're just babies who, when they don't get their way, they throw a tantrum and say rather moronic things that have no logical backing.
Much like your liberals, it seems.
When Liberals are in power here, they want us all to bend over and take it up the butt, not just to the US, but to anyone. Now, this may not sound all that bad to some ;-D who like a rear-ender, but to others it means getting screwed in the pocketbook.

He didn't have a problem with the media when they went full tilt after Martin (as they should have). The media is there to cover the moves of the government, good AND bad.
Telling the media that he will hand pick which questions he answers and which people he speaks to isn't brave, it's cowardly. He was elected to represent our country, not a few hand-picked people from our country. You can't apply for a job and erase half of your duties once you get it.
Not everyone is convinced he's right for Canada. By talking to the media he might be able to help sway those opinions. By refusing to talk to them, he will only damage his reputation further.
As for soft lumber, Canada got the short end of the stick. We were owed much more and every party but the Conservatives wanted Canada to actually have the NAFTA agreement count for something. Now that we've given in once, why won't they do it again? And again? And again? Is it better that this was resolved quickly, or would it be better if it were resolved fairly?
