Canadian Shocker

... well, not all that shocking.

Bloc Quebecois (the separatists) Leader Gilles Duceppe said it all, and for my first time ever, I have to agree with him:

"...the Liberals and New Democrats are incompetent".
This quote was regarding the error on the opposition's part in failing to debate the newest spending budget.

What's funny is it takes an accident to get the bloody ball rolling around here.

Legislators were supposed to hold a debate and final vote on the spending plan after Parliament's finance committee completed its review. By remaining seated in the House of Commons, opposition lawmakers allowed the bill to pass.
The folly was a result of an unexpected absence in which
"Opposition lawmakers were expecting Conservative member Diane Ablonczy to speak in the House. When she didn't show up, the speaker moved on to the budget, and opposition politicians were caught off guard."
Sucks to be them, but primarily good for the rest of us.
"The government is proposing C$29.3 billion in tax cuts and new spending over two years, narrowing its budget surplus to C$3.6 billion this fiscal year, from C$8 billion in the year ended March 31.

That should give a boost to consumer and business spending of more than C$5 billion, keeping the world's eighth-largest economy on course to grow at the fastest pace in four years, economists have predicted."

In the whole scheme of things, it really doesn't matter all that much since it was in its final stages of planning, but it's just darn funny regardless.

Had the proposal been opposed, however, we could have been forced into another election.

I guess there's a reason Stephen Harper's Conservatives are in charge, and the idiots (I mean opposition) are not running things (or was that ruining things?).

Hat Tip: thanks, Jim, for sending the link.
