The Genius of Juvenile Delinquency
I heard this story on the radio this morning and just about wet myself laughing. Rest assured, I did catch myself in ample time to prevent an embarassing miscue, basically because I remembered that the car was not the best place to relieve myself (at least not on my way to work).
Police: Boys escape detention, take train on joy ride
Associated Press
NELSONVILLE, Ohio - Two boys are back in detention today after an early morning joy ride in a stolen train.
Police in Nelsonville in southeast Ohio say 13-year-old Zachary Walden of Portsmouth and 16-year-old Matthew Burks of Proctorville walked away overnight from a residential treatment home. The center director says the unlocked facility is for juveniles convicted of felonies.
Sergeant Edward Kurtz says the two broke into a building that houses rail cars for the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, a passenger train for tourists.
They found the engine and Burks was able to start it. No cars were attached.
They rode it about eleven miles to Logan -- where Athens County sheriff's deputies arrested them.
They face juvenile charges of burglary, theft and escape.

The next part is what really got me giggling.
The radio report to which I was listening also added a tasty little nugget of information that was not included in the above article, and that's unfortunate. I personally feel that it was rather pertinent. The reason the two boys only made it 11 miles? Evidently, according to WOWO radio out of Fort Wayne, IN, the boys stopped the locomotive to get some snacks.
The folly of youth never ceases to amuse...err, amaze me.

Well, dude. Ya' gotta' curb the munchies man! You know that much excitement burns up a lot of calories?
LOL!
Dolts.
I see a bright future for them, yup. Nice bright florescent lighting in a 8 x 8 jail cell. (Or whatever size they are. Never been in one to find out.)

I can only imagine how that conversation went...
"Dude, I think we're safe now...I'm dying for a Moon Pie and a Red Bull...pull over."

the true irony here is that when they are convicted of these new felonies, they'll be placed back in the same prison without any locks on the door.
that place must have been built during the Carter administration...
