Another Bimbo Sex Scandal - OPPS - I forgot it is ok when it is a Democrat

I ran this over at my blog awhile back and thought some of you might appreciate this rant. I also hope it allows you a glimpse of my beliefs and what I rant about at my other place. Let me know what you all think!

It's just another bimbo sex scandal, but some may ask is it? Yes it is. It involves a politician who is enamored by power and a bimbo. Sound familiar? The story broke about the Clinton/Lewinsky sex scandal in 1998.

Okay so I am referring to Telemundo's Maria Bartirom as a bimbo - she is a bimbo. There I said it again. I am truly not impressed with ones stature or education because it does not in many cases equate to common sense.

Via USAToday:

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa admits having an affair with Telemundo reporter Mirthala Salinas, but both parties claim that the relationship has not had any impact on their professional responsibilities.

Villaraigosa says he's focused on running the city; Salinas says she gave up covering politics and moved to the anchor desk nearly a year ago. But near the bottom of the Associated Press story is this gem: while Salinas was anchoring the news, she had to read an on-air report about the mayor's separation.

"It is true that I have a relationship with Ms. Mirthala Salinas," the mayor said yesterday. "As I've said I take full responsibility for my actions, and I once again ask that people respect my family's privacy. For my part, I intend to stay focused on my job, and to work as hard as I can every day to be the best mayor I can be."

Will the mayor change his name after the divorce is finalized? After all, "Villaraigosa" is a combination of the mayor's surname -- Villar -- with his soon-to-be ex-wife's surname -- Raigosa. The Los Angeles Daily News, which broke the news of the affair, says Corina Villaraigosa is so upset she wants to change her name back to its original form. As for hizzoner, we'll have to wait and see.

I will not go into all the reasons people should not have affairs, for whatever reasons, there are no good reasons, just excuses. That topic is another article waiting to happen - another time. It would be remiss of me not to add, however, that if women believe they are liberated, or it is liberating to do "just whatever" the hell you want - those women are sadly mistaken. There is nothing liberating about having an affair or allowing yourself to be a poster child for "bimbos."

We all remember the Clinton/Lewinsky sex scandal. To this day it escapes me how Monica Lewinsky came out to be the "only" bad guy - or in this case woman. A woman cannot rape a man and excuse the analogy - but you cannot suck if their is no puck. It is for this very reason I refer to women like Monica Lewinsky and Maria Bartirom as bimbos. These women not only hurt others, but what is so overlooked is just how they hurt themselves and lose all credibility. This may be the way of human nature, but it most certainly is not what was meant by the Seventies slogan; "You've come a long way baby."

Of course their is the indisputable fact that both scandals involve Democrats. Not that that in and of itself says much to their morality or anyone else's - perhaps just coincidental? I wonder why, however, how it is always "excusable when it is a Democrat" - God forbid it be a Republican. Remember what the Democrats were saying when it came to light that Republican, Newt Gingrich, had an affair during the Clinton Impeachment process?

LA Weekly reports this of Villaraigosa's media affair:
THERE WAS ONLY ONE television station to watch on the day in mid-June when Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa first broached the subject of his marriage — a disastrous event where he summoned reporters to discuss his split with Corina Villaraigosa, then demanded privacy from those same reporters when they asked about his affairs. That channel was, of course, Telemundo, whose weekday 6 o’clock news is anchored by Mirthala Salinas, the raven-haired beauty who secretly dated the mayor even as his marriage fell apart.

By then, the blogosphere was on fire with rumors that Salinas, a reporter and anchor for KVEA Channel 52, had a long-term relationship with the married mayor. And so it was surreal to see Salinas on the 6 o’clock news introducing the segment on Villaraigosa’s breakup, looking away from the camera while a tiny screen showed Villaraigosa also looking down.

You had to wonder: Was Salinas upset? Did she feel weird announcing the end of the mayor’s 20-year marriage? And most importantly, was this the news or a telenovela? (Oh, right. Those come an hour later. Zorro, anyone?)

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Daily News finally got confirmation of Villaraigosa’s romance with Salinas, a political reporter who had already dated former council President Alex Padilla, among others. Daily News reporter Beth Barrett, with help from an interpreter, brilliantly went to the most obvious source, Villaraigosa’s mother-in-law, who said that the mayor told his wife that questions about his missing wedding ring were “none of her business.”

SFGate had this to say:
A statewide poll by a leading Democratic pollster of potential Democratic gubernatorial candidates in April suggests that Villaraigosa, although widely seen as a formidable force in a 2010 gubernatorial race, is hardly unstoppable.

The poll showed that in a potential gubernatorial field, Brown, a former governor, leads the pack with 23 percentage points, followed by a tie between Newsom and Villaraigosa at 12 points and former state controller Steve Westly next at 11 points.

But if Brown, now California's attorney general, decides not to run, the poll showed that Westly and Newsom tied at 15 points, followed by Villaraigosa in third place with 13.

The bottom line: With political rivals knocking at his door, another shocking episode of "Amor Prohibido" could turn the Los Angeles mayor's once-bright political future into a telenovela called "Mi Vida Loca.''

Time will give an account as to how far reaching this news of Villaraigosa's affair while in office will affect him. Of course there is the fact the Rudy Giuliani basically did the same thing and he has yet to be redeemed by Democrats and many Republicans alike. The question is will Villaraigosa be redeemed the way Bill Clinton was or does his fate walk the same fine line as Rudy Giuliani's? Again, time will play this out and reveal what is to be.

In the interim it appears, however, that all will be forgiven - of course, Villaraigosa is a Democrat.

The next question is, does Maria Bartirom face the same ostracizing that Monica Lewinsky did? Either way, as far as these women go, they are bimbos. No common sense at all.

Regarding Villaraigosa - just another novella.

Layla,

Check the title on the image of Maria Bartirom. Maria Bartiromo is an anchor on CNBC...

Hi Howard,

When I first wrote about this at my blog The HILL Chronicles it was really quite confusing. I am aware of her working CNBC and she also had affiliations with Univison.

The premise of this rant is not to question her intelligencia-but her common sense. Women who have affairs in my opinion are bimbos.

But you and others are all welcome to disagree. I just wanted to put a rant here that would allow readers to get to know the things that are important to me.

I guess I am rather conservative for some peoples taste. You would not believe the comments I had no choice but to delete.

Just the same thanks for the heads up and I am looking forward to hearing more from you Howard!

Cheers!

Yeah, I was confused by the pix/name associations. Did a little google and realize their is a sort of Bartiromo parallel....

One of the posts asked what Maria Bartiromo did, and the other noted that she was an NYU graduate and noted journalist.
