Blog Whores

ZZZsssss.....

Some of you for sure may not like this, but it is something we all need to talk about. Blog whores. I can hear you now saying, "What the hell is a blog whore?"

You have all met or come across a blog whore at one time or another. A blog whore can be female or male it really does not matter, because they do the very same things - make trouble - accuse - get touchy - don't like how you wrote this or that - call you names, even vile names sometimes - I believe you get the drift.

How many times have you thought you wrote a masterpiece just to have some blog whore come by and tell you that you write like shit? Or that you are a whore, because you think every man or woman having an affair is not only wrong, but are bimbos?

These blog whores always stick around like leaches and when they cannot attack what you write, they attack your grammar or scrutinize your spelling. They will tell you about every "t" you did not cross and every "i" you did not dot. Simply put, blog whores are pains in the asses.

Don't you just hate it when a blog whore visits your site or if you do not have a blog, but comment on blogs and you find a nutty comment left by a blog whore?

Most of you are like me, we ignore it. I will delete the comment if the blog whore is exceptionally hateful, but most times I will leave it up and ignore it, which they completely hate. Being ignored to a blog whore is like taking a baby bottle away from a crying baby.

There have been several times when I was tempted to tell the blog whore off - as I am sure you have been, but we know that is a waste of time. Telling a blog whore off is encouraging their disgusting behavior and bad attitude.

You can never change the mind of a blog whore - it is set like flint. A blog whore will never be talked out of their views or ways of seeing things - so it's best not to try. These are the little blog whores that run around disagreeing with everyone and their mother just for the hell of it. Their food is a blog or post that is totally abstract to their ideology.

So what choices do we have to deal with the blog whores?

1) Ban them.
2) Ignore them.
3) Remind them we are not pimps for their trash.

Or lastly, like me, be bold and write a post on blog whores. Hopefully that will shut them up for the time being - if not - drink lattes and read this blog!

Don't Cry Yet

baby_crying_closeup

Hi everyone. I am Layla Gonzalez. Some of you know me, some of you never heard of me. Some of you probably are thinking who the hell cares who this "Layla Gonzalez" is!

Well, you should care, because I am honored to be taking over Sam's blog while she is away on her hiatus. But don't cry yet!

For those of you readers that do not know who I am here is the scoop. I am a usually serious - quick on the draw - in your face political blogger, writer, and analyst. I am affiliated with the Pajamas Media Network Bloggers. I wish I could tell you I am a biggie like Michelle Malkin, but I cannot. I am just a humble blogger that loves to write, set some wrongs - right and have been fortunate get to know some of the best and brightest bloggers on the Internet. Sam being one of them.

When Sam said she wanted a blog takeover I could not help but offer to do so. There have been so many times at my humble abode I wanted to say things, write things, be funny as hell and joke, but that is not The HILL Chronicles. It would of been out of place.

The Crazy Rants of Samantha Burns gives me an outlet and venue to express my humorous side. I can say things without worrying I will be scrutinized because "that is not what your blog is about, why are doing that here?" Thanks to Sam's trust and faith in me I will be able to hopefully entertain you, make you laugh, make you think, but what I really wish is that I can be almost as good as Sam to keep you coming back.

So don't cry yet and give me chance. I mean it can't be that bad, or could it? Hmmmm.....now that is a scary thought!

If you are interested in getting to know a little bit about me and my serious side you can hop over to my site here and check it out. If you are not into that - cool, come back here because I will be around. Sam is counting on me!

Here's to getting to know you all and having some fun and laughs together. I truly am looking forward to this.

Cheers!
Layla

Blog Takeover

As I'm sure you've noticed, I haven't been able to blog much these days. And, rather than taking it up when I do have time to write once in a blue moon, I've decided to stop altogether.

I am going to make this an open invitation, though, to anyone who would like to blog on this site full time. It doesn't pay - in fact it costs me more to run the site than for what I get out of it - so this won't be a paid gig. But, if you want to take over my site and gain the readership I have, then drop me a line and I may be able to get you going on that.

I will keep this site open for the OTA, as well. Therefore, there will be an open trackback article posted daily and throughout the weekend as long as it is of use to people. I hope, if nothing else, that this site can remain helpful for this purpose.

I've had an unbelievable time blogging, and I've made a heck of a lot of awesome friends on here. I'll miss my readers more than I'll miss my writing, that's for sure. But, I just can't get back to it with everything that's going on in my life presently. Who knows, you may see me around in the future kicking some celeb's butt or better yet, some half-witted, enviro-weenie's arse; but for now, I have to go.

Take care, all!

Please consider this an open trackback article.
OTA - Open Trackback AllianceTrackbacking info: Showcase your best work; attract new readers (linking this article in return of course). Do NOT link your open trackback post here. Use Linkfest Haven Deluxe instead. To the right, you will find OTA members who are doing open trackbacks for the day.

Always Fun: Search Engine Hits

Here are some of the search engine hits I've been getting recently.

introducing the book
fecal fun
whore
all about burns
disgusting food
brooms factorys
medicinal marajuana
can you eat crocs shoes
dolly parton jiggly videos
mcdonalds frenchfry burns
dogs intercourse
samantha pumpkins
horny and happy
the best burns ever

My favourites: fecal fun, all about burns (what do you want to know about me?), disgusting food (one word: strawberries *blech*), can you eat crocs shoes (let me guess, this is going to be some kinda new freak trend of the future, screwballs), and of course, gotta love it when they hit my site looking for a "whore".

Of course, my absolute favourite would have to be "the best burns ever" - that I am!

It Feels Good

No, not that... well... ya, that too.

Actually, "it feels good" is my response to Committees of Correspondence who asked me,

How does it feel to beat out Google? ;-))
Okay, this may be the only way I'll ever beat out Google - through visitor paths of my readers to other blogs - but I'll take it, lol.

Visits

Anyhow, I had a good laugh when I got this from Committees of Correspondence, so I thought you might get a chuckle, too.

Take that, Google!

Whoops, Michelle, Be Careful Of Your Advertisers

On the same page where Michelle Malkin was beating up Verizon over sponsoring Akon who commits shameless acts (and then congratulating on a victory over Verizon):

Michelle Malkin Verizon article

I saw this side bar advertisement (click to enlarge) of a woman in a thong suggestively posing:
Michelle Malkin thong advertisement whoops

I am sure Michelle Malkin would never have knowingly approved of that advertisement, but it does show that you must be careful about what's not under your control on your site or it could unintentionally reflect badly on yourself.

I am not comparing the Verizon situation to Michelle Malkin's. They are different:

  • Verizon surely knew Akon's questionable background before signing a multi-million dollar contract.
  • Michelle is using a generic advertising script and the advertisement that is served came from another company not under her control.
  • The advertising script on Michelle's site shows different ads to different visitors and she would likely never see that ad.
  • While some ad serving companies allow you to prevent certain ads from showing up, most require you know the name of the 'offending' advertiser first.

Fortunately, anyone who reads SamanthaBurns.com knows Sam doesn't have such high moral editorial standards, but even those like Michelle Malkin, who encourage moral standards, can end up having their name tarnished.

Wanna Blog Here?

As some of you know, I've been attempting to take out more time in my life to participate in personal hobbies and such, and this choice is making it difficult for me to blog and interact with other bloggers the way I have been previously.

I know this isn't an unusual dilemma as many other bloggers have struggled with the same issue, but it's stressful nonetheless. I consider the online community and my readers as friends who I've interacted with on a daily basis for over a year now, so it's not easy to slow down on blogging.

I'm still struggling with how I should go about maintaining my blog - how many times per week I should post; and, checking my emails has become more and more infrequent for me as well. I'm definitely taking Friday and the weekend off from writing articles, leaving only the OTA open trackback thread up during that time (so that means an extra day of trackbacking). I will probably also post one or two open trackback articles during the week to give people more opportunities to share their work.

As for writing articles, I haven't been feeling up to it as much for about a month now (perhaps I've hit a burnout stage, or something), and I'm not sure what to do about that.

The only thing I can think to do is post articles more randomly, and offer you the chance to become a blogger at this site. If you think you'd like to add your voice to this blog, please email me and mention your desire. Of course, there is no pay in it, but you may find some other form of satisfaction in being a part of a wonderful online community.

I don't have any restrictions at this point on what can be written here, so please email if you're interested in posting a few times per week and, in the email, please explain the sort of writing you would like to do (ranting/raving, political, random thinking/observations, celebrity stuff, etc.).

In the meantime, I'll post when the mood strikes me (or when the moonbats p*ss me off), so be sure to check back here from time to time, and hopefully my mojo will come back to me after a bit of a break.

I apologise to all my faithful reader friends, but perhaps the break will do me good to come back full of the 'p*ss and vinegar' I've been missing lately.

Last Minute Shopping And After Christmas Deals

ready

For those slackers out there - like me - who still have to complete their final holiday purchases, you may be interested in the site, ReadySetHoliday, which has products from Sears, Kmart, and Lands' End.

I was asked to peruse the site recently and report on it, plus I was given a $30 gift ecard to make some purchases as reward for my efforts.

Woo Hoo! Shoppin'.

It took me a couple days to pick out what I really wanted because there's so much darn stuff. It's great!

For most women, at least.

Not sure how the experience would be for a man, although I'm sure it beats the heck out of the headaches at the malls.

I don't know about you, but I've been spending more and more of my hard-earned pennies (and I mean pennies, that cheap MR.BIG, kidding) with online shopping these days. Sure beats the h*ll out of dealing with those idiot drivers out there.

Anyhow, I made my purchases, so hopefully I'll be seeing that in the mail sometime soon. And, the only problem I had at that site was due to my own stupid mistakes in entering the account code incorrectly.

Lol, I really shouldn't be allowed near a computer.

Nonetheless, the site also has plenty other fun and intriguing stuff, not just shopping. Including a mom-to-mom message board (didn't need that), or you may be interested in playing some of the games there (like I did).

For the Candy Cane Race: My score - 4506 in 39 seconds.

Lots of neat stuff; I'm still checking out the site from time to time.

Anyhow, that's my being a shill for the day, but it was a neat experience. It's just too bad the site doesn't cater to Canucks - hopefully they'll create one for up here (hint, hint).

Complete Randomness

The 2006 Weblog Awards

Finalists have been announced for the Weblog awards. Be sure to head on over there to check up on some sites and to decide who you'd like to vote on in various categories.

I'm listed in the Best Canadian Blog category, eh.

I see a lot of blogs in there that I enjoy and will be voting on; I just wish more of my blog friends were in there.

Nonetheless, good luck to all. Voting should start tomorrow.

On a side note, enjoy these videos of the 10 best Jackass skits of all time.

I know, two completely unrelated topics, but thought I'd mix it up a little and do both.

And, to throw it off balance even more, here's a non-humourous self-esteem quiz.

My tally: 93, What does your score mean?

According to this test, you have very high self-esteem. You recognize your inner value and it shows in your personal life, relationships and career/school success. You exude confidence, which is very attractive, and believe enough in yourself to pursue things whole-heartedly. Such a healthy self-esteem allows you to "be yourself", handle stress effectively and maintain an overall sense of well-being. You should value and nurture this quality; it will get you far in life. Way to go!
Ok, I'm done screwing around.

I switched to a new server host not too long ago, and at first they were fine, but now, they suck donkey balls. So, I'm going to have to move yet again, and hopefully find a place that actually does their job, and does their job well.

I just want to encourage you all to click the Blogads on the left of this webpage.

Go ahead and read some great stuff over at Blogs of War and 123beta.

By reading their blogs, you are not only getting a different perspective on life and some great news coverage, but you are also supporting me because with the more click-throughs they get, the more likely they will be to come back and take out more ads with me.

The more ads with me, the more opportunity for this blog to remain alive, what with all the financial costs of running it.

It's a great little reciprocal process, this capitalism thing, isn't it?

And, on a side note, let's welcome back Committees of Correspondence, who just returned from a two week vacation in Italy (lucky bum). He'll be back to writing speed just as soon as he gets over the jetlag (have fun with that).

Thanks to Debbie, I didn't miss the fact that Sam has been posting her humour, ramblings and rants for one year today. This was left in the comments:

If you want to give Sam a gift then migth I suggest something free, i.e. voting for her in the Blogs of Summer Humor/Satire at The Kag Report. Or throw her a bone by linking her and sending her a bit of traffic. Heck, a Jag would be nice too if you can swing it and its not too much trouble (she likes them).

Here are some statistics/facts about this blog for those who care:
1) 1600 posts since the start of the blog on year ago
2) Average of 4.3 posts a day, every day for 365 days
3) The entire list of posts here
4) Some 210,000 visitors have come to Sam's blog, which averages to 575 visitors per day since the start of the blog
5) Currently around 700 visitors per day come to Sam's blog
6) Some 326,000 page views of Sam's blog, which averages to 893 page views per day since the start of the blog
7) Many thanks to the following individuals have contributes at least one guest post (in order that I found them): Lostinlimaohio; The Conservative UAW Guy; Blue Blogging Soapbox; Polunatic; Sense of Soot; Theology Girl; The Miceman; Macstansbury.org; Abandoned Stuff by Saskboy; Welcome to Mildew Hall; 123beta; imaginekitty magazine; The Platypus Society; The Land of Ozz; Blogonomicon; Peakah's Provocations; Moonbat Monitor; New Victorian; Aprosexic; That.Man; King Erasmus; Dangerous Dan; Lingo Slinger; Muttering In Manitoba; Jeff and Diane's Stuff for the P.E.R.V. banner.

The Blogs Of Summer Awards

For those unaware, Bloggin Outloud is hosting the Blogs of Summer Awards.

The first link is the category I'm under, nominated by 123beta and third world county, and the second link is the nominations page where you can select up to 5 blogs in each category.

The categories are
1) Chick & Mommy Blogs
2) Humor & Satire Blogs
3) Milblogs/Military Support Blogs
4) Random Blogs That Don't Fit a Category
5) Kitty Kat Blogs (And Other Pets too!)
6) Political Blogs (Or Something Close)

And, I'm only a little surprised I got in under the humor & satire category considering the rules specifically state no vulgar blogs accepted.

It must be all those * symbols I use to cover my vowels. Nobody knows that I'm really swearing when I do that, right?

So, go ahead and nominate away until this Sunday. Monday is the beginning of the voting, so I'll probably be writing on this again and promoting the sites I know, enjoy, and maybe even some I want to get to know.

Some more fav's:
"samantha's spanking audio" - oh oh, how did that get out?
"if the flintstones has taught us anything" - let me help you complete that, "If The Flintstones has taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement." [á la Homer Simpson]
